According to the airline’s 2025-2030 Institutional Program , published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) , Mexicana also seeks to increase cargo transportation , going from 114.63 tons last year to 1,960.46 tons by 2030.

“In terms of cargo transportation, significant growth is expected, which will support Mexican companies in their export and import operations through the operation of a fleet of 20 aircraft,” he said.

Likewise, it will aim to transport 2,630,483 passengers by 2030 , a 594% increase compared to 2024, when it carried 379,123 passengers. It also aims to have a 71% occupancy rate by 2030, which represents an increase of approximately 45% compared to 2024.

“The airline’s commercial agreements are expected to generate 112,009 passengers by 2030,” the DOF stated.

The airline announced that by the end of the aforementioned period , it should have a 3.5% domestic stake , which represents an increase of approximately 468% compared to 2024.

This  will be achieved through the establishment of 11 strategies and 58 lines of action that will contribute to “turning the company into a driving force for development in Mexico’s air transport sector, facilitating the efficient transportation of people and goods. Its vision focuses on operational excellence, the geographic expansion of air routes, innovation, and sustainability, all with a focus on customer satisfaction.”

Projecting beyond the 2030 horizon requires a long-term vision that transcends administrative cycles and lays the foundation for sustained and sustainable development.

“The vision for the future is clear: by 2050, the airline will be one of the leaders in Mexico and one of the best in Latin America. It will be recognized for its service excellence, operational efficiency, and its drive toward air connectivity and mobility for the benefit of Mexicans,” he projected.

By 2050, Mexicana estimates it will be actively involved in key domestic and international destinations , enabling it to capitalize on growth and collaboration opportunities in the airline market by consolidating a fleet of 50 modern aircraft and a broad network of commercial routes connecting various strategic regions of the country.

El cargo Mexicana sets goals for 2030; plans to increase its fleet apareció primero en T21.

The Spanish airline Iberia announced that as part of its 2030 Flight Plan, it plans to invest six billion euros , add new aircraft, and reach other destinations such as Toronto, Canada; Philadelphia, United States; and Monterrey, Mexico .

Marco Sansavini , Iberia’s CEO, indicated that this outlook is due to the transformation process and results achieved over the last decade, which is why they expect to achieve annual profitability of between 13.5% and 15% during the period.

“It’s an investment that’s 70% directed toward the fleet and the rest toward other elements. Of what will be allocated to the fleet, 80% will be for growth and making Madrid a leading hub, and the rest for renovation. Then, investments related to the customer, employees, and facilities,” he emphasized.

In this regard, Sansavini explained that they are seeking to increase the number of long-haul aircraft from 45 to 70 , with capacity allocated between Europe and Latin America, Spain and the United States, Madrid and Europe, and the domestic market.

Regarding the new flights to Toronto, Philadelphia, and Monterrey, which is the second destination in Mexico, as it currently has a presence at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) , he specified that they will begin in the summer of 2026.

“With the new fleet, we’re not only going to open new destinations, but also strengthen those we already serve through increased frequencies. Throughout the arrival of the new aircraft, we’ll share the evolution of the network,” Sansavini stated.

The plan includes the renovation of 100% of long-haul cabins , the opening of an additional premium lounge in Terminal 4 of Barajas Airport , and a strong commitment to digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve the customer experience.

Likewise, the new Ciudad Iberia will be built in La Muñoza , a cutting-edge aeronautical innovation center, where the corporate headquarters will also be relocated. It also plans to hire 1,000 people annually, reaching 250,000 direct, indirect, and induced jobs and contributing €19 billion annually to Spain’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), among other initiatives.

He recalled that the plan’s three strategic lines have been presented throughout the year: boosting financial and operational strength, developing Madrid as a leading European hub , and ensuring the future of maintenance.

During the presentation of the 2030 Flight Plan from Madrid, he mentioned that within these areas there are 20 initiatives such as fuel efficiency, strategic alliances, investment in people development and in the organization of the future, among others, all of which aim to strengthen Iberia.
