SPARX Logistics, the Hong Kong-based freight forwarder , has decided to look to the skies to diversify its service offerings. With the launch of SPARX SkyRate , the company has begun operating air imports to Mexico and anticipates starting exports in 2026, thus consolidating a new customer service model based on speed, reliability, and technology.
“Given the stagnation of the maritime market, we have focused on the air sector,” says Boris Franchomme, Managing Director for Mexico at the company, who explains that the new product is based on the recent acquisition of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) license and the development of digital solutions that allow for immediate quotes. SkyRate promises to respond within 30 minutes with guaranteed rates for up to three days and assured space on cargo or commercial flights, thanks to partnerships established with participating airlines.
Franchomme identifies an underserved niche in the industry: unplanned cargo . “We see a business opportunity in unplanned cargo, where customers, facing an urgent need for critical products, require immediate information,” he explains.
It exemplifies that these are cases in which companies must bring machinery, spare parts or components from Canton, China, to Mexico, and where the speed of response becomes a determining factor.
“In our industry it’s complicated to get quoted this way, but we, through our systems, are linked and we see an opportunity to win it,” he says.
