With just over a year of operations, Sendan Logistics , a Mexican freight forwarder, is establishing itself in the market for perishable goods, pet food, dry goods, and other products. And although it faces intense competition, its experience, trust, and more customer-focused service have contributed to its growth, so 2025 will be a year of expansion.
“With our experience in the sector, our clients encouraged us to start this project. We’re focused on air exports and fortunately, we obtained IATA accreditation. We’re also working on sea exports, focusing on imports from China and Europe. Our clients have grown with us, and that’s important,” says Iliana Mata, Sales Director.
He explains that while growth has been recorded in the different segments in which they operate , the handling of live animals has developed steadily. It is even now a premium service for airlines, as they offer better transportation of pets, and upon arrival at certain destinations, they have areas dedicated to them so they can walk while making a connection, among other services.
He explains that pet transport has grown because more Mexicans are currently traveling with them. Similarly, there are foreigners who decide to adopt pets in Mexico and take them back to their home countries. There is also a market for pet owners selling them.
“It’s a growing and highly specialized field because you have to understand the needs of pet owners, provide veterinary care for export or import requirements, and support the client to provide that visibility. It’s a market that not everyone can serve and requires specialization,” says Mata.
