Schneider, strategic and long-term vision in Mexico

For more than three decades, their focus has been on creating value and innovation for the market.

Schneider, visión estratégica y de largo plazo en México

As one of the first U.S. transportation companies to enter the Mexican market, Schneider’s story began 32 years ago in 1992, when a U.S. customer expressed confidence in moving paper products between the northern neighbor and our country.

“Since then, we have grown in three main lines of business: Truckload, which has had the longest operational presence in Mexico. We later launched our Intermodal division, which we have practically served for almost two decades; and finally, our Logistics division, where we provide brokerage and supply chain services,” according to Bernardo Rodarte, VP & General Manager Mexico at Schneider.

Schneider effectively understood this economic phenomenon that boosted the Mexican economy. “To put that in perspective, we were already in Mexico before NAFTA was implemented between Mexico, the United States, and Canada, and since then we have had an uninterrupted presence,” he asserts.

The meeting with Schneider executives took place at their new offices in Polanco, Mexico City, a district that provides greater accessibility for their clients and achieves greater synergy with their stakeholders. The space also incorporates areas designed by their employees for collaboration in various spaces and environments, resulting in better customer service and operational efficiency.

Value-Added Strategy
Mexico has positioned itself as the main trading partner of the United States, which, while the result of a geopolitical process, is also driven by the phenomenon of nearshoring that emerged from the stress experienced by carriers within their supply chains during the pandemic.

“Since the pandemic, there have been many disruptions in the supply chain, in addition to the risk associated with dependence on supplies from Asia. When that happened and our clients couldn’t reach their customers in North America, they wanted to bring their production closer to this region, and that’s where Schneider becomes an advisor and partner to support their relocation process,” according to Erin Van Zeeland, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Group SVP (Senior Vice President) & General Manager Logistics.
