
The heavy vehicle market in Mexico continued its slowdown in February 2026, following the trend observed in January. During the second month of this year , 1,786 units of cargo and passenger vehicles were sold wholesale , representing a 28.0% decrease compared to the 2,482 units sold in the same month of 2025, according to figures from the National Association of Bus, Truck, and Tractor-Trailer Manufacturers (ANPACT) .
The majority of sales were in the cargo segment , which accounted for 1,490 units during the second month of this year. However, this sector also showed a significant adjustment compared to 2025, with a year-on-year decrease of 26.0%.
Within this segment, fifth-wheel tractors remained the main driver of volume, with 624 vehicles sold last February. However, this subsegment registered a 51.7% contraction compared to 2025 , reflecting less dynamism in the demand for long-haul transport units.
Other segments showed different performance. Class 6 reported 168 units sold, representing a 250.0% increase over February of last year. Class 5 added 80 units, with a 66.7% increase. In contrast, Class 8 reached 496 units sold, which meant a 14.2% year-over-year decrease.
In the passenger segment , wholesale sales totaled 296 units in February 2026, a figure that implied a drop of 36.9% compared to the same month of 2025. Within this category, intercity buses totaled 91 units, with a decrease of 63.9% compared to the same period last year.
In the first two months of the year, wholesale sales of heavy vehicles reached 3,463 units , representing a decrease of 30.7% compared to the 4,997 vehicles sold in the same period of 2025.
Of that total, the cargo segment accounted for 2,948 units in the January-February 2026 period, representing a 31.0% decrease compared to the same period last year. Fifth-wheel tractors again led sales, with 1,417 units sold during the period, although this represents a 52.1% contraction compared to January-February 2025.
Meanwhile, the passenger segment accumulated 515 units placed in the first two months of 2026, representing a reduction of 29.1% compared to the 726 sales in the same period last year.

Regarding retail sales , 2,253 heavy vehicles were sold in the national market during February 2026, a decrease of 39.6% compared to the 3,728 units registered in the same month of 2025. In the accumulated January-February, retail sales totaled 4,302 units, a drop of 42.6% compared to the 7,493 vehicles sold in the same period of 2025.

Within the cargo segment, retail sales reached 1,910 units last February, representing a 38.4% contraction compared to the same month in 2025. Fifth-wheel tractors accounted for the largest volume, with 884 units in February 2026, a 50.6% decrease compared to the second month of 2025, when 1,788 vehicles of this type were sold.
