In this context, Ramiro Montemayor, current vice president general of Canacar, formalized his request for leave of absence from the position , with the purpose of participating in the internal process towards the national presidency of the organization for the period 2026-2027.
He assured that the decision regarding a possible unity candidacy or the participation of three candidates will be made by the members of Canacar themselves.
“If the members deem it appropriate to have three candidates, so be it; if they opt for a unity candidacy, we will also respect that,” he stressed.
During a meeting with members of the organization, Montemayor stated that his decision was made thoughtfully with his family and collaborators, with the goal of building a slate that integrates the representation of all regions of the country.
“I have decided to run for the national presidency of Canacar. I will dedicate myself full-time to assembling my team and personally reaching out to each of you to work together from this moment forward,” he stated.
The request was received by Luis Roberto Lastiri, general director of Canacar, who reported that the document will be forwarded to the presidency and the National Board of Directors for analysis and approval on November 12 .
In the letter, Montemayor expressed his intention to run for president and his commitment to maintaining the organization’s institutional integrity throughout the process.
“It has been an honor to contribute to the Chamber’s objectives. I appreciate the trust you have placed in me by granting me this responsibility, which I have carried out with dignity and respect,” he stated in his letter.
During the event, several board members and executives expressed their support, highlighting his experience, work structure, and leadership within the organization. “Ramiro is the way forward,” several participants at the meeting agreed.
Montemayor explained that the electoral process anticipates the submission of slates until mid-January and the election of the new National Council on March 2, 2026, in accordance with the statutes of Canacar.
Finally, Montemayor reiterated his commitment to continue the projects underway within the organization and to promote new support schemes for small businesses, especially in fleet renewal and links with financial institutions .
