The record of thefts from cargo transportation maintains Puebla as the entity with the highest rate in the figures accumulated as of the first half of 2024 , reported the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV) .
During the first part of the year, Puebla was ranked as the entity with the most incidents with a total of 210 crimes involving heavy vehicles , which represented 25% of the national total, which was 843 thefts of heavy vehicles.
As had happened since the previous month, the State of Mexico remained the second entity with the highest number of robberies, totaling 204, with this the entity contributed 24 percent.
In various forums, Luis Villatoro, ANERPV intelligence advisor, had anticipated that Puebla would surpass the State of Mexico as the entity with the highest incidents, derived from the mitigation actions that had been undertaken in the State of Mexico, and the area of opportunity that It is in Puebla.
Of the total thefts recorded by ANERPV partners, which totaled 1,713 crimes, 49% of them corresponded to heavy vehicles , 17% were light vehicles, and 34% were from individuals and other configurations.
By time, 32% of accidents are reported in the morning, ANERPV reported, followed by 29% in the afternoon, 21% at night and 18% in the early morning.
With these results and considering all configurations, in 2024 the second highest record of average thefts per month was obtained with 286 units, only behind 2019 when 324 were reached.
In the analysis by entity, in Veracruz of the total unit thefts 88% correspond to heavy units, Hidalgo 86%, Puebla 77%, San Luis Potosí 76%, Nuevo León 70%, Tlaxcala 68%, Querétaro 64%, Guanajuato 58%, State of Mexico 44%, Michoacán 33%, Jalisco 26% and in CDMX with 11 percent.
