PROAN , the world’s second largest egg producer and creator of the Huevo San Juan brand, has advanced the digitization of its logistics network by implementing Samsara ‘s connected operations platform , with the aim of ensuring the freshness and quality of the more than 30 million eggs it distributes daily in Mexico.
The company reported that, after adopting this technology, it achieved a 64% reduction in speeding incidents and a 42% reduction in cell phone use while driving, in addition to streamlining the freight collection process, which went from 10 days to just two. Currently, PROAN operates a fleet of 464 connected vehicles , using cameras with artificial intelligence, telematics devices, environmental sensors, and digitized workflows, all integrated into its central management system.
According to PROAN, prior to this digitization process , the operation faced challenges related to a lack of visibility on the route, risks of accidents, theft, and disruptions to the cold chain, factors that impacted the punctuality of deliveries and generated costs due to product returns.
Ricardo Hurtado, Assistant Director at PROAN , explained that real-time monitoring has been key to strengthening security. He detailed that last year the company recorded 29 robberies, 25 of which were detected through Samsara technology, allowing them to recover 80% of the assets and ensure all operators were unharmed.
Founded in 1954 in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, PROAN has evolved to become a global leader in egg production and distribution. Currently, it distributes its products nationwide in less than 24 hours, leveraging technological tools to enhance the efficiency, safety, and traceability of its operations.
