After a process that took around three years and given the deficit of operators that exists in Mexico, Palos Garza Logistics now has a Driver Training and Training Center for the Federal Motor Transportation Service and Private Transportation, authorized by the Ministry of Infrastructure. Communications and Transportation (SICT) .
With this, the company can provide training courses, as well as for operators to obtain and renew the federal driver’s license type E and B.
Juan Carlos Varela, director of the Transportation Division in Palos Garza, told T21 that the objective is to train drivers from scratch within the community of Nuevo Laredo, paying for the four training centers that already exist in the region.
It is projected that training will begin at the end of August and by the end of the year 80 trained operators will have been reached. It should be noted that these are not only aimed at company operators, but the call is open to any student, “with the goal of supporting the transport union so that any operator can renew their license,” he said.
“We are going to recruit students interested in training as operators, who must complete 180 hours of training, of these 62 are theory and 118 are practice, this is exclusive for operators who work in the country. In the case of international licenses, the hours increase from 180 to 196, which are divided into 70 hours in theory and 126 hours of practice,” Berenice Luna, in charge of the Driver Recruitment, Training and Training Department, explained to T21. Garza Logistics.
The company has a program with which it facilitates interested drivers who have worked for more than a year and a half, the process of obtaining a US visa so that they can work as B1 operators.
In the specific case of aspiring operators, at Palos Garza Logistics they have to go through a 180-hour theoretical and practical training program, and then do internships in the maneuvering yard for a month.
“Subsequently, they are assigned a route instructor for another month, and in the case of transfer operators, they make daily crossings with the instructors. They know the papers that are required, the movements that have to be made at customs, etc., once this period is over, a driving test is scheduled by a certified instructor. If you pass, you are already hired by us and if you No, he will be trained for one more month,” Luna explained.
The facilities of the Palos Garza Logistics training center are located on the highway to the airport at kilometer 3.8 , it has a training classroom, units available for practice, a didactic workshop with a complete engine for study of the applicants and the maneuver yard so that students complete the necessary learning.
