The lack of operators is already having a direct impact on the operation of road transport : around 90,000 units are stopped due to a shortage of operators and the figure could exceed 108,000 by 2028 if urgent measures are not taken, according to data from the National Chamber of Freight Transport (Canacar) cited in a statement.
In that context, the inauguration of the Training and Development Center for Freight Transport Operators in San Martín Texmelucan, Puebla, took place , a project promoted by the government of Puebla with the support of Canacar, in which PACCAR Mexico participated .
The event was led by Miguel Ángel Martínez, president of Canacar —in what was his last official act at the head of the organization— and was attended by Víctor Gerardo Gabriel Chedraui, Secretary of Economic Development of the State of Puebla; Alfonso Aguirre González, general director of the Institute of Training for Work of the State of Puebla (Icatep) ; as well as Javier Valadez, director of Operations of PACCAR Mexico.
As part of the collaboration, PACCAR contributed a Kenworth T680 truck that will be used for the practical training of the operators.
The unit will allow students to train with state-of-the-art equipment , in a coordination scheme between the state government , Canacar, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) and Icatep.
During the inauguration, Javier Valadez stated that the goal is for the center to become a benchmark for the training of operators, and reiterated the company’s commitment to providing technology and training for their professional development.
The delivery of the T680 incorporates cutting-edge technology into practical and specialized training, at a time when the sector faces one of its most relevant structural challenges: the lack of talent to operate the units that support logistics and supply in the country.
