Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) announced on Monday that it has launched the Transpacific Latin Pacific 8 (TLP8) service , with a direct connection between China and Mexico, and a transit time of 16 and 20 daysfrom Qingdao to Ensenada and Manzanillo, respectively.
The complete rotation of TLP8 will be as follows: Shanghai – Qingdao – Ensenada – Manzanillo – Ensenada – Yokohama – Shanghai .
The new service joins OOCL’s existing TLP1, 2, 5, and 6 routes , which connect to Latin American markets.
OOCL also joins the ranks of shipping companies, both Eastern and Western, that have decided to create direct maritime routes between Asia and Mexico , as part of the Latin American country’s growth in merchandise imports.
For the first six months of this year, Mexican Pacific ports received a total of one million 326 thousand 546 20-foot containers (TEU) of imports , 1.9% more than in the same period last year, according to statistics from the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine of the Navy .
OOCL said the TLP8 will begin its voyage on August 20, 2025 , departing from the port of Shanghai, China.
