
Japanese shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) and technology company MTI announced the creation of a joint venture with the aim of promoting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the maritime industry .
The company was named Quaveo and is headquartered in Vietnam, specifically in Ho Chi Minh City. According to ONE, this new corporation was created “in response to the diversifying needs of the market , the pursuit of greater operational efficiency, and the improvement of the customer experience.”
Furthermore, the shipping company stated that the alliance with MTI “seeks to leverage its extensive experience in providing services to consumers, businesses, and local governments, as well as its expertise in AI technology and applications. This involves transforming business models , operational processes, and value creation mechanisms with AI as the central focus.”
According to the Japanese company, this alliance’s main objective is “to solve problems and generate value for customers, including the shipping industry , by leveraging ONE’s extensive knowledge and practical experience in the container shipping sector and MTI’s expertise in developing human resources with AI.”
The specific activities carried out by this company include: developing and providing operational optimization for the shipping industry, providing artificial intelligence services that contribute to improving the customer experience, supporting business automation through AI agents , and providing and selling AI solutions to external companies.
It is important to note that Quaveo has a total capital of $1.6 million. Regarding share ownership, 51% is held by MTI and 49% by the shipping company ONE .
