It’s been 27 years since a pioneering vision transformed 40 hectares of the then-nascent port of Altamira into what is now a logistics hub in Mexico . Grupo Multimodal is celebrating nearly three decades of existence, reaffirming its position through ambitious strategic projects.
Founded by Enrique De Hita Yibale, the Multimodal Group was born with the conviction of offering more than logistics services . From its earliest days, the purpose was clear: to design comprehensive, top-quality logistics solutions tailored to its clients, exceeding their expectations and generating operational certainty. Twenty-seven years later, the essence of this legacy remains intact and has expanded and adapted to today’s demanding global environment, characterized by constant transformation and driven by globalization, technology, and digitalization.
Services that include dry and refrigerated warehouses, distribution centers, a bonded warehouse, and a rail terminal, as well as local, specialized, and international transportation , make the Group a highly important logistics operator for the northeast and other areas of influence in the country and around the world.
Although, according to its president, Enrique De Hita Sánchez, its greatness lies beyond the infrastructure installed and the kilometers traveled, in its people. Its more than 700 employees, who work 24/7 to ensure optimal handling of the loads entrusted to them by their clients or logistics partners. As its founder proudly said: “Our people smile because they are happy with what they do, and that is our greatest asset.”
At this point, the senior management of the Multimodal Group, led by Kai Schmersahl, looks back with gratitude and looks to the future with great promise. The company is committed to consolidating and expanding its capacity, specialization, and operational coverage. This, in addition to promoting strategic projects that mark a turning point in its history.
Among these milestones is the recent expansion of the Meat Inspection Point , which doubled its operational capacity from six to 12 doors, reinforcing its commitment to food safety and positioning itself as a leader in the handling, storage and transportation of refrigerated and frozen products inspected by Senasica .
Likewise, they are moving forward with the expansion of the Multimodal Bonded Area, planned for September 2025, which will increase its logistics capacity and optimize its customs processes. This includes expanding its Phytosanitary Inspection Point, also authorized by Senasica, from 22 to 29 gates, a key element for foreign agricultural trade.
Added to this is the development of the Altamira-Monterrey Intermodal Corridor, which will strengthen the logistical connection between the port and the industrial zone of Nuevo León, improving freight transportation times, costs, and sustainability.
Clearly aware that a vision for the future is not only built on infrastructure, the Multimodal Group is also committed to technological innovation with the Genesis project , an ambitious digitalization and automation strategy aimed at streamlining and modernizing its operations, enabling greater traceability, efficiency, and accessibility of information for its customers.
Technological innovation is also part of this evolution. With a state-of-the-art Monitoring Center and a security system powered by Artificial Intelligence, Multimodal redefines logistics traceability standards, aware that trust is its most valuable differentiator.
With an annual social responsibility program involving its management, employees, and communities, they understand that their role as a company is not only economic, but also social and environmental. In this commitment, they are making steady progress toward Certification as a Socially Responsible Company, planned for the 2025-2026 cycle.
No less important, the commitment to the training and professionalization of “Multimodal People” crowns this strategic plan and is reflected in the company’s achievement, for the third consecutive year, of the Super Companies 2025 Certification. This reflects the company’s commitment to the well-being and development of its employees; the result of an organizational culture that honors its legacy while simultaneously building a stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable future.
With these projects, Kai Schmersahl and his management team are driving sustained and sustainable growth for the Multimodal Group and are opening up to the vision of sustainable, efficient, and technologically advanced logistics.
