Mexproud Shipping celebrates its 28th anniversary by consolidating its leadership in the industry with notable figures , expansion in Latin America and a commitment to sustainability.
Antonio Prakash Vargas, CEO of the company, reflected on this journey and the challenges he has faced to bring the company to where it is today.
“The company was founded by my father 28 years ago, but I took over the leadership 10 years ago after he suffered an accident. It was a difficult start, but today we can proudly say that we handle more than 40,000 TEUs (20-foot containers) annually and we work with top-level companies such as Soriana, Grupo Salinas and Castel,” said Vargas Rajaram.
Resilience and adaptability have been key to Mexproud Shipping’s success. During the pandemic, the company diversified into importing medical supplies, bringing in 33 flights with essential supplies, a decision that, according to Prakash, “not only allowed us to survive, but also to support society at a critical time . ”
The company is currently betting on a solid expansion in Latin America . In 2023, they opened offices in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and have plans to venture into Guatemala. Prakash highlights that the expansion is not only focused on business growth, but on the selection of the right partners:
“If we have a good relationship with partners and see clear opportunities, we move forward,” Prakash said.
Recognitions validate the effort!
This year, Mexproud Shipping obtained the Great Place to Work certification , a recognition that, according to Antonio, “reflects the well-being and happiness of our team.”
Added to this is the Member Commander’s Club award from the MSC shipping company , which recognizes them as one of the Top 10 Freight Forwarders in Mexico, handling more than 15 thousand TEU, in 2024, only with them.
The modernization of the offices in Mexico City and the growth of the team, which went from 17 to more than 115 people, are part of Mexproud’s commitment to continuous improvement.
- Donation of furniture to the Daunis Foundation (children and young people with Down syndrome).

The future in Mexico and beyond!
For Antonio Prakash, the industry faces major challenges, from security issues and port infrastructure to the need for digitalisation . However, he says that what sets Mexproud apart is its focus on solving problems “out of the box” and the commitment of its team.
“The key is to ensure that the customer has peace of mind, despite the political and logistical challenges we face,” he said.
Looking ahead, the company plans to strengthen its presence in Mexico , especially in strategic regions such as Monterrey, Guadalajara and Bajío, as well as explore opportunities in Ensenada, taking advantage of the growth of its port.
Prakash also sees significant development in Brazil as one of the long-term goals, although he acknowledges that it is a highly competitive market.
As a personal and corporate vision, Prakash concludes that internal well-being is the driving force of the company:
“We need to be on good terms with each other, because that is the only way we can reflect this in quality service for our customers,” Prakash said.
With 28 years of experience, Mexproud Shipping is celebrating an anniversary, but also reaffirming its commitment to innovation, expansion and responsible development in the logistics sector.
