The federal government met with representatives of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) railway to discuss various issues related to its operations in the country.
“We welcomed Keith Creel, president and CEO of Canadian Pacific Kansas City, a company that has routes from Mexico to Canada, to the National Palace,” reported Claudia Sheinbaum, president of Mexico, through her social networks.
The railroad’s subsidiary in Mexico mentioned through the same channel that Keith Creel, CEO of CPKC, and Oscar Del Cueto, president of the company in Mexico, were present at the meeting to discuss the importance of freight railroads, strategic investments, including the second section of the international railroad bridge on the border with the United States.
The President of Mexico announced that the inauguration of the second international railway bridge between Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas and Laredo, Texas will take place in February 2025 .
It is worth mentioning that CPKC de México reported the completion of this work last Tuesday, a project that required an investment of 100 million pesos and that began at the end of 2023.
Also present at the meeting were Jesús Esteva, head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) , and Andrés Lajous, director of the Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF) , who returned from Monterrey after a review of the entity’s railway infrastructure.
