After a year (2025) that tested the resilience of the trucking industry , Refrigerados Maverick decided to accelerate. The delivery of 20 T680 NEXT GEN 52 model 2027 trucks is not an isolated move, but the first step in an expansion plan that includes the addition of 100 tractor-trailer trucks throughout 2026, in partnership with Kenworth DAF Metropolitanos
The investment responds to the growth of its portfolio and the arrival of new clients who now demand greater capacity, efficiency and reliability in every kilometer traveled.
These first 20 units, produced in January at the Mexicali plant , mark the start of a stage of close collaboration with the company, highlighted Alejandro García, commercial director of PACCAR Mexico .
He emphasized that the commitment is not limited to delivery, but extends to continuous operational and after-sales support, especially in a year that has presented challenges for the sector
For his part, David Acevedo, commercial director of Refrigerados Maverick , thanked the plant team and the distributor network for strengthening an alliance that, he said, now gives them confidence in service, support and financing.
He acknowledged that the context is complex, but insisted that growth requires generating synergies with strategic suppliers and investing in teams that support daily operations.
In that regard, Carlos García, commercial director of Kenworth DAF Metropolitanos , expressed his gratitude for the preference shown towards the brand and noted that this delivery represents a challenge and a commitment, particularly in the after-sales area, where he assured that they will be present in the company’s upcoming investment programs.
The units are equipped with a 450 hp Cummins X15 engine with EURO 6 emissions level , an 18-speed Eaton Fuller transmission at 2,050 lb-ft and Meritor components on maintenance-free axles and shafts, according to Antonio Albarrán, commercial executive of Kenworth Metropolitanos.
Security and support as the cornerstone of investment
In terms of safety and configuration, the units integrate Bendix 6s-6m ABS brakes with anti-roll and traction control, in addition to systems such as Bendix Fusion, collision mitigation and lane departure warning, and Bendix Side Object for blind spot detection.
They are complemented by a Kenworth 46,000-pound suspension, LED headlights, 24.5-inch wheels with aluminum rims, and a Viper Red finish with an orange chassis. The spokespeople agreed that this choice responds not only to the need for additional capacity, but also to the pursuit of durability , structural robustness, and nationwide after-sales support—factors that also influence resale value retention.
Thus, amidst the uncertainty, Maverick has chosen to grow in partnership with Kenworth DAF Metropolitanos. And it does so with its sights set on new deliveries already scheduled for this year.
