
With an investment of 327 million pesos (mdp) , the Marina Airport Group will carry out the expansion and modernization works at Colima National Airport , which will contribute to obtaining international status for this airport.
This distinction will allow it to expand its operations , attract more routes, and consolidate the state as a strategic point within Mexico’s airport system.
The project includes the transformation of all areas of the terminal building: the outpatient area, the documentation area, security checkpoints, the arrivals hall, and the final waiting room.
“With these initiatives, passenger reception capacity at arrivals will increase fivefold, while the waiting room will increase its capacity almost sevenfold, allowing us to more efficiently meet visitor demand. In terms of surface area, the terminal’s operational area will grow by 243%,” the Marina Airport Group reported in a statement.
The renovation also includes the runway , taxiways, and aprons, which will ensure high operational safety standards and provide modern, comfortable, and safe facilities for tourists and users in general.
Currently, the airport has two routes: to Tijuana, operated by Volaris , and another to Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) through Aeroméxico .
In 2024, Colima National Airport handled 273,274 passengers, representing an 11.9% increase compared to the 244,128 users handled in 2023, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) .
