Mexico is one of the world’s leading manufacturing economies , said Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Economy (SE) , at the launch of the Made in Mexico is Better Made campaign .
At the event, Ebrard emphasized that Mexico is a country that has achieved significant success in various fields, one of which is the manufacturing industry, making this campaign highly relevant.
“This campaign is very important because it showcases, on behalf of Mexico’s private sector, the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) , and 2,057 small, large, and medium-sized businesses that have obtained the Made in Mexico certification. We have five million economic units, but only 2,057 have the certificate,” he emphasized.
The campaign is a private initiative with resources paid for by them. “It was promoted by the companies. What we’re doing is accompanying and supporting them because it’s in the best interest of our country. We’re working together,” the federal official explained.
The main idea of Plan Mexico , he added, is to develop more products in the country and import less from abroad, so the launch of this initiative represents an important step.
For his part, Francisco Cervantes, president of the CCE, indicated that it is time to strengthen the Mexican economy, recalling that domestic consumption represents approximately 70% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) , and that the manufacturing industry is 21.7% of GDP .
“Thanks to domestic consumption, international investors’ confidence in our country is also growing, and this is irrefutable proof that Mexico is on the right path,” he emphasized.
He recalled that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2024 was $36.9 billion, and that more than half of this investment was allocated to the manufacturing industry , “the engine that gives life and seal of quality to what is Made in Mexico.”
“Committing to Made in Mexico means strengthening small and medium-sized supplier companies, consolidating productive chains , and multiplying benefits in every region of the country,” Cervantes emphasized.
The “Made in Mexico is Better Made” campaign consists of six spots, which will be broadcast throughout Mexico and aired on television, radio, digital media, and social media; they will also be shown outdoors.
