In order for Mexican airlines to regain ground and expand internationally, adding new routes to destinations they did not previously offer, they will have to invest in technology to maximize the opportunities offered by the recovery of Category 1 in aviation safety issued by the United States government.
According to Enrique Mendoza Arce, founder and CEO of enITma , a software and technology services company for the airline industry, this will also ensure long-term competitiveness and consolidate Mexico as a key player in the international industry.
“It is not just about adding new routes or increasing the frequency of flights, but about innovating in all operational and service aspects. To do so, we must see technology as the core that can boost the success of Mexican airlines in this increasingly competitive environment,” he said.
He recalled that in the first half of 2024 alone , 30 million international flights were registered in Mexico , an increase of 19.4% compared to the same period in 2019, according to data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) , figures that reveal the importance of adopting specialized tools that allow efficient expansion, help manage key operations and improve the user experience.
He said that with the opportunity for growth in commercial routes comes the need for planning in the use of advanced technologies, such as airline software, which is gaining relevance as a key component for the industry to optimize its operations, improve user experience and become more competitive.
“The implementation of specialized technologies improves daily operations and completely transforms the response capacity of airlines. It also allows them to manage routes and fleets with greater precision, as well as anticipate financial and regulatory challenges, improving overall efficiency,” he said.
He said that an example of the use of advanced air traffic management systems allows flight routes to be optimized in real time, reducing fuel costs, flight times and carbon emissions, factors that improve profitability and respond to global environmental demands.
In this regard, he noted that the adoption of specialized software technologies is essential for Mexican airlines to be able to operate with the efficiency and security required by the international market.
“The ability to adapt and integrate innovative technologies will allow airlines to compete globally and build a more solid and sustainable operation. The early implementation of these solutions guarantees airlines a competitive advantage that will remain relevant in the coming years, with benefits ranging from route planning to a better passenger experience,” said Enrique Mendoza Arce.
