The National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor-Trailer Producers (ANPACT) , which represents the automotive industry of cargo and passenger vehicles in Mexico, held the ANPACT 2025 Reforestation Day at the Science Park, in the Sierra Morelos, Toluca, with the purpose of promoting environmental initiatives and reaffirming the sector’s commitment to sustainability.
The event brought together more than 86 volunteers who planted 600 native Hartwegii and Montezuma trees in an area considered strategic for groundwater recharge, carbon capture, and biodiversity conservation.
“By planting each tree, we are sowing the future. We are strengthening our forests’ capacity to absorb carbon, maintain the rainfall cycle, conserve the soil, and become a refuge for local species. Reforestation is also a reminder of the role we must play as a society and as an industry to preserve natural resources and leave a positive legacy for future generations,” said Rogelio Arzate, Executive President of ANPACT.
In addition to reforestation, participants participated in the Clean Forest Walk , collecting waste on trails and in public areas to improve park conditions . A talk was also given to raise awareness about the main threats facing forests, such as fires, illegal logging, and unplanned urban growth.
This event builds on projects carried out in previous years: in 2019 in Puebla with the planting of 300 trees; in 2023 in Ocoyoacac with 500 trees; and in 2024 in La Marquesa with 600 trees, achieving a 90 percent survival rate. These actions carried out by the association not only contribute to the regeneration of the ecosystem but also generate benefits for local communities .
The ANPACT 2025 Reforestation Day becomes concrete actions by the heavy vehicle automotive industry associated with ANPACT to contribute to sustainability, decarbonization and the protection of natural resources, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (UN) , especially goal 15, focused on the conservation of ecosystems.
This initiative is also aligned with the association’s vision for the ANPACT 2025 Transport Expo , which will be held from November 12 to 14 at Expo Guadalajara , where sustainability and decarbonization will also be central to the agenda.
