GUADALAJARA, JAL.- Within the framework of Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 , Daimler Truck Mexico officially presented the fifth generation Freightliner Cascadia , a model that represents the latest technological and efficiency evolution of the brand.
The presentation was led by Marcela Barreiro , president and CEO of Daimler Truck Mexico, accompanied by collaborators from the Saltillo and Santiago plants , as well as representatives from the distributor network and REMAN , the division in charge of remanufacturing components.
“It is our history that has shaped this cutting edge, this technology, and the advancement of our products. I am sure that as soon as you try it, you will love it, because behind each unit there is a dedicated operator and a team working to make everything run smoothly,” said Barreiro , presenting the new Cascadia.
Aerodynamic redesign and greater efficiency
The fifth-generation Cascadia features a complete redesign of the hood, grille, and headlights, elements that, according to Barreiro, were optimized after “many hours of engineering and wind tunnel testing.” These structural improvements achieve fuel efficiency of up to 2.9% , with a cumulative improvement of 35% compared to previous models , the result of years of development and continuous testing.
According to Jorge Vargas , Director of Market Development and Product Portfolio at Daimler Truck Mexico , the new model is equipped with a Detroit Diesel DD13 engine with GHG24 technology , whose pairing with the DT12 transmission facilitates operation and improves the profitability of the unit.
Barreiro added that this configuration offers a more comfortable ride for the operator and a more competitive total cost of ownership.
“We’ve worked on the hood, creating a more aerodynamic redesign, a wider grille, and LED headlights that improve driver performance. All of this translates into greater profitability for our customers,” the executive explained.
Security, connectivity and technology
The new Cascadia comes standard with the Detroit Assurance system , which integrates driver assistance features, and the Freightliner Link platform , offering real-time connectivity and monitoring. It also includes the Driver Coach tool , designed to improve driving habits and reduce fuel consumption.
“We are talking about a vehicle totally focused on efficiency, safety and connectivity,” he pointed out.
The new Cascadia is manufactured in Mexico , primarily at the Saltillo plant , with support from the Santiago Tianguistenco complex . Barreiro emphasized that it is a collaborative effort between the engineering teams, plant employees, and customers, whose feedback was incorporated into the final design.
“It has been a collaborative effort from our engineers and field staff, working with our customers and our dealer network to ensure this vehicle delivers the best performance,” the executive stated.
The fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia is positioned as the new benchmark in Daimler Truck Mexico’s portfolio. Innovations in design, aerodynamics, telemetry, and ergonomics solidify its role as the brand’s flagship vehicle in the heavy-duty segment.
Barreiro highlighted that the engineers worked on a simplified architecture that facilitates maintenance and improves after-sales service, with the purpose of reducing operational complexity and standardizing customer fleets .
“It is a fully technological vehicle and we know it will be a turning point for our product portfolio,” he stated.
The launch of the new Cascadia seeks to contribute to Daimler Truck Mexico’s strategy of promoting solutions that combine productivity, connectivity and safety, while maintaining the national manufacturing hallmark and the commitment to innovation that characterizes the brand, explained company representatives.
