During the early hours of this July 30, a railway derailment was recorded near the municipality of La Barca, Jalisco, involving more than 20 wagons of a Ferromex freight train .
According to the state Civil Protection, the accident occurred at 05:00 hours, so Public Security, Civil Protection and Firefighters personnel went to the vicinity between the station and the San Francisco de Rivas highway.
He specified that two people with minor injuries were helped at the scene, who were transferred to the IMSS clinic in La Barca, while Ferromex will be the one to carry out the expert opinion.
“Our infrastructure and transportation teams are working in the area to remove the units, rehabilitate the track and make way for the trains,” Ferromex said in a statement sent to its clients.
According to Iris Morales, specialist in logistics and transportation issues at Lumiére Logística Internacional, it is “important to take into account the derailment of the train that left Manzanillo (port), since it will be generating congestion within the port terminals that ends up affecting no only to those who load on the train .”
With data from the latest statistics from the Rail Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF), a decrease of 15.7% was recorded in the number of reports of derailments compared to the same month of 2023, in addition, 43.7% of the reports were recorded on tracks main.
The states with the highest number of reports were State of Mexico (eight reports), Coahuila (three) and Baja California (two).
