Marcelo Ebrard, head of the Ministry of Economy (SE) , signed agreements with Lorena Cuéllar and Alejandro Armenta, governors of Tlaxcala and Puebla, respectively, to launch the Wellness Centers in these states, in which investments already secured for more than 612 million dollars (mdd) were announced .
During his tour of both states, the federal official reviewed projects for the construction of these hubs with local authorities and spoke with committed and potential investors, according to a statement.
On August 15, Ebrard and Lorena Cuéllar signed the agreement formalizing the Development Pole for the Well-being of Huamantla, Tlaxcala .
“Here you have 53 hectares. As Lorena already said, we’re going to have an investment of more than $500 million in the first phase. We’re talking about 80% of the surface area committed to different companies to date,” Ebrard emphasized, adding that “in 2026, the first hub will be inaugurated.”
Meanwhile, on August 16, Ebrard and Alejandro Armenta signed an agreement in San José Chiapa, Puebla, to launch the Economic Development Hub for the Well-being of the Capital of Technology and Sustainability. The Hub will be located on land adjacent to the already operational Ciudad Modelo.
For Puebla, “2.1 billion pesos (mdp) have already been committed to date,” explained Ebrard, who noted that among the companies confirmed for this hub are Energain de México, Motores Limpios, and Peisa Foods, among others.
In addition to the agreements to launch the hubs in Tlaxcala and Puebla, agreements have been signed in Puerta Bajío, Michoacán; Chetumal I, Quintana Roo; and Celaya, Guanajuato. The goal of the first phase is to reach 15 hubs.
It’s worth remembering that Wellness Hubs are industrial parks that will be developed taking into account the strengths and vocations of various regions in Mexico, attracting investment through tax incentives and various other support programs.
The hubs represent a pillar of Plan Mexico and seek to promote employment, increase production, and contribute to replacing Asian imports with domestic suppliers .
