Aeromexico Cargo reported that in recent years it has registered an average annual growth of close to 35% in the handling of e-commerce (electronic commerce).
Therefore, with the arrival of the Christmas season and the increase in purchases on digital platforms, it is preparing to serve one of the seasons with the highest demand, through a specific plan that seeks to maximize operational availability, and optimize its human capital, resources and infrastructure.
“This trend reflects Mexico’s growing participation in cross-border e-commerce, driven by global platforms and increased domestic demand,” he said in a statement.
To meet both commercial and operational requirements related to the demands of e-commerce and the sector in general, the company has a wide network of countries and solutions that cover diverse needs.
He said that Aeromexico’s fleet of 165 aircraft, which make up the belly cargo capacity (goods transported in the hold of passenger planes) , operates nearly 450 daily flights across 18 countries, with a presence in the main markets of Europe, Asia, North America, the Caribbean, Central and South America.
In Mexico, this subsidiary operates 35 domestic stations, guaranteeing the distribution of goods throughout the country.
“Aeroméxico Cargo’s main differentiator lies in its processes for accepting, handling, and delivering goods. Specifically for e-commerce, the main competitive advantage over other modes of transport is time, as air shipments are completed in 6 to 8 hours, including airport transfer and processing. This translates into effective solutions for operations with fast delivery promises,” he explained.
Furthermore, strict control schemes are applied to sensitive or high-value goods. It also invests in infrastructure to streamline its cargo operations, while through the integration, automation and digitization of facilities, as well as real-time tracking systems and end-to-end visibility, it aligns itself with the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) vision for smart and sustainable cargo centers.
Aeromexico Cargo highlighted that through its alliance with Amazon , whose main objective is to enhance the national air network as a key enabler in the promise of fast delivery, and since the start of operations in November 2021 , they have shown constant evolution, going from an initial limited scheme to a national air operation.
Currently, this collaboration makes a significant contribution to logistical connectivity in different parts of the country, strengthening the speed and reliability of the service.
“Air transport represents a strategic component within Amazon’s logistics network, particularly for high-priority routes and time-sensitive shipments, allowing for greater flexibility and operational resilience. It is in this context that Aeroméxico Cargo becomes a fundamental ally in guaranteeing Amazon’s delivery promise thanks to its punctuality, infrastructure, and service,” he stated.
With the arrival of the Christmas season, Aeromexico Cargo is implementing actions that include preventive maintenance tasks, pre-allocation of space on key routes , temporary reinforcement of personnel and increased inventory of supplies.
The growing demand for e-commerce has been one of the main drivers of growth. During 2025, the airline recorded a 20% increase in e-commerce shipment volume compared to 2024, and a further 10% increase is expected by 2026.
The airline will continue to invest in digital technologies, infrastructure modernization, and key processes to improve the customer experience, as well as to strengthen traceability and security, consolidating its position as the preferred logistics partner for the e-commerce ecosystem in Mexico.
In addition, it is promoting the opening of new routes for the transfer of imported packages with final destination in Mexico City, as well as increasing volumes on current routes through projects focused on first flights and “same day” delivery schemes.
