The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that the 2025 World Cargo Symposium (WCS) will focus on digitalisation, sustainability and security as key themes to help the global air cargo industry adapt to unfolding geopolitical changes.
“Air cargo has proven its resilience in adapting to the post-pandemic world. In 2024, more will be transported by air than ever before. But the world is moving at an even faster pace with technological advances, geopolitical shifts, evolving risks and changing customer needs. At WCS we will collectively take stock of what lies ahead for air cargo, focusing on digitalisation, sustainability, security and e-commerce. The growing demand for air cargo underlines its critical role,” said Willie Walsh, Director General of the organisation.
WCS will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 15-17 April, organised by Emirates SkyCargo and dnata. This is the second time WCS has been held in the UAE, the first being in 2017.
Badr Abbas, Senior Vice President, Emirates SkyCargo Division, said: “With its strategic location and world-class logistics infrastructure, Dubai is a natural choice for the IATA World Cargo Symposium 2025 and as the host airline is ready to showcase its expanding capabilities and commitment to driving efficiency, innovation and connectivity across the air cargo industry.
He commented that the symposium will be a key platform to shape the future of air cargo and align on the best growth strategies.
“With safety, innovation and sustainability at the heart of our business, the IATA Global Cargo Symposium provides an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and explore new solutions. We look forward to connecting with our partners and stakeholders to improve operational and environmental efficiency, driving significant progress across the industry,” said Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, CEO of Airport Operations at dnata.
