TOLUCA, EDOMEX.- Detroit REMAN Toluca Plant celebrates 17 years of operations. As part of the anniversary, the manufacturing center launched the FL 360 1828/2528 engine line and the half-overhaul of the DD15 engine . In addition, it announced the launch of the 5th generation HDEP air compressors (DD13, DD15 and DD16) and oil separators, which will be available in the last quarter of the year.
In addition, and in order to respond to the dynamics of the domestic, North American and, in the near future, Latin American markets, the plant has carried out some optimizations that allow it to be more effective in the manufacturing of the seven launches that will take place in 2024, which, in addition to those already mentioned, also include HDEP engines, tensioner pulleys and MBE 900 Euro 5 turbos. But the plant renovations also allow for the introduction of new products in the future.
“We are a strategic partner for after-sales and that is why we respond to the needs of the markets we serve. The launches we prepare are a response to the needs of Daimler customers who are looking for customized solutions,” explained Victor Tellez, general manager of Detroit REMAN Plant Toluca.
Téllez added that with the incorporation of the new Detroit REMAN products, the Toluca Plant aims to communicate that remanufacturing is not an informal solution ; on the contrary, each product is backed by robust engineering leveraged by investments made by the manufacturer.
“Remanufacturing is a process that allows us to return a component to its original specifications, which even enables us to provide guarantees as if it were a new component and a 30% reduction in costs with a positive environmental impact,” explained the executive.
Throughout the history of Detroit REMAN Toluca Plant, various products have been incorporated into its catalog. “ These 17 years have allowed us to become an integrator of solutions with which we go beyond the remanufacturing of engines and we adapt to the needs of the market. We work together with Daimler Truck in Mexico and the United States to develop engineering that responds to customer demands,” Téllez explained to T21.
Today, the plant operates under the concept of lean manufacturing, which focuses on continuous improvement and optimization of production systems, eliminating activities and waste that do not contribute to the production process. At this point, the general manager of the plant explained that this method is part of the 2030 strategy that seeks constant adaptation of processes and innovation.
To achieve its objectives, the Detroit REMAN Toluca Plant has invested more than 22,000 hours of training for the 400 employees of the manufacturing center. This includes technical topics such as lean manufacturing , but also gender inclusion and inclusion of people with disabilities, Téllez reported.
