In just four years of operation, Emergent Cold LatAm has become a significant player in temperature-controlled solutions in Mexico and Latin America. With a presence in 11 countries, the company has 110 warehouses and 1.3 million pallet positions , consolidating a key infrastructure for the region’s food supply chain.

According to Adrián Madero, the company’s commercial director , growth has been supported by a strategy of acquisitions and new developments .

“During this time, we’ve invested between $1.2 and $1.3 billion, primarily in acquisitions. We’ve acquired 25 companies and developed 13 facilities from scratch, in addition to seven projects currently under construction,” he said in an interview with T21.

The Mexican market has become one of the company’s expansion centers. It currently operates 35 distribution centers with capacity for 240,500 pallets and 1.9 million cubic meters in multi-temperature chambers , with a cumulative investment in the country totaling $200 million .

Emergent Cold LatAm’s growth is a response to the needs of its customers, Madero told this outlet, but also to a transformation in the food trade .

Traditionally, Mexico relied on fresh imports from the United States, which arrived directly to processing plants without having to go through freezing warehouses.

Today, the dynamic is different, and with the opening of trade to Brazil and Argentina , the world’s leading protein exporters, most of these products arrive frozen . This change has triggered the need for specialized infrastructure.

“The demand for frozen products has been increasing, and this has driven sustainable growth in Mexico. Our customers ask us to assist them in the importation of frozen raw materials and also in last-mile distribution,” Madero explained.

In 2022 and 2023, Emergent Cold LatAm acquired two companies that gave it a presence in Tijuana, Monterrey, State of Mexico, Mexico City and Irapuato, Villagrán and León (Guanajuato) .

Subsequently, expansions began in Monterrey and Villagrán, in addition to the construction of new facilities.

One of the most recent milestones was the opening of a distribution center in Monterrey with a capacity for 23,000 pallets , considered one of the most advanced in the country. This will be followed by projects in Guadalajara , its first foray into the city, and in the State of Mexico , which has the highest demand for refrigeration due to the size of its consumer market.

With a solid financial capacity and the goal of being a strategic partner, Emergent Cold LatAm seeks to enable its clients to focus their resources on their core business, trusting the company to solve the most complex cold chain logistics solutions.

“We want to continue investing in Mexico and the region, being the best ally to guarantee safety and efficiency in food handling. We see no limits to our growth,” emphasized Adrián Madero.
