GUADALAJARA, JAL.- Within the framework of Expo Transporte ANPACT 2025 , Daimler Truck Mexico presented the pillars guiding its development strategy, including efficiency, technology, and customer service, according to Marcela Barreiro , its president and CEO.
Under a comprehensive approach that unites product, service, and financing, the company showcased the progress of its divisions and its commitment to the professionalization of transportation
The meeting was led by Marcela Barreiro , Carlos García Amandi , General Director and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Daimler Truck Financial Services Mexico ; and Holger Dürrfeld , CEO of Mercedes-Benz Buses , and Till Oberwörder, CEO of Daimler Buses .
“Behind each unit there is a story: a committed operator, an entrepreneur who is committed to profitability, and a team that works to make everything run smoothly. That evolution is what drives us,” said Barreiro .
She emphasized that the ” Cascadia” (the brand’s model) is currently the most efficient tractor-trailer on the market, “made in Mexico and with the quality that distinguishes our plants in Saltillo and Santiago,” she said
During his message, he recalled that the brand obtained the ” Made in Mexico” distinction, a recognition that supports the quality of its national manufacturing and its commitment to the country’s industry.
Specialized Financing for Transportation
In his remarks, Carlos García Amandi shared the evolution of Daimler Truck Financial Services Mexico , which has been in the country for more than 30 years and since 2023 has focused exclusively on the heavy vehicle market
“Today we continue to support our customers and distributors with tailored financing, aligned with the evolution of the business,” he commented.
He explained that the finance company restructured its operations under the North American model to improve processes and offer more efficient service. In that context, he announced the opening of the North America Service Center , which will operate from Mexico to serve customers in the United States and Canada
“This center represents a vote of confidence in Mexican talent and in our ability to operate with international standards,” García Amandi noted.
Mercedes-Benz Buses: Innovation and Sustainability
At the event, Till Oberwörder, CEO of Daimler Buses, emphasized that for the electrification of transportation in Mexico to occur, three important factors are necessary: regulations from the authorities, operating companies that must have the same objectives, and the availability of infrastructure.
“It’s like a mathematical formula: if any of these variables is multiplied by zero, the result is zero. If one is not aligned, electrification cannot be achieved,” he explained.
He added that the transformation of passenger transportation is going through a decisive stage driven by urbanization, sustainability, and the recovery of the long-distance segment.
He stressed that these three trends define what he considers “ the decade of the bus ,” a stage in which mass mobility must respond with cleaner, more efficient, and more accessible solutions
“The bus has been, is, and will continue to be the most efficient, ecological, and sustainable means of transport,” he stated.
The executive pointed out that the brand’s global strategy is progressing toward the gradual electrification of all segments, from urban to long-distance.
In Europe, he explained, up to 50% of recent sales already correspond to electric buses, and the next step will be to extend this technology to intercity and tourist vehicles.
However, he acknowledged that by 2030 the main challenge will not be the technology, but the charging infrastructure: the availability and distribution of energy that allows large units to be charged on long journeys.
“The question will be whether there will be sufficient infrastructure to support the operation of long-distance electric vehicles,” he warned.
For his part, Holger Dürrfeld , CEO of Mercedes-Benz Buses , noted that the company is celebrating 27 years in business and has developed products that promote electromobility and efficiency
Dürrfeld commented that the brand’s work goes beyond simply delivering a unit. With programs like Service Plus , Mercedes-Benz Buses provides preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as remote assistance. He also emphasized that tools like Bus Connection offer real-time monitoring, maintenance alerts, and performance analysis, which allows for reduced costs and increased unit availability.
“We want the buses on the road, not in the workshop,” he commented
The plant in García, Nuevo León , was also mentioned as an example of sustainable operation: it recycles 98% of the water used , operates with solar panels , and promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment.
“Mobility begins with people,” said Dürrfeld, referring to the company’s talent training and development programs.
A shared vision for the future
In closing, the brand leaders reiterated their environmental commitment focused on cleaner manufacturing processes and the promotion of more sustainable energy for transportation.
Barreiro highlighted the collaborative work with chambers of commerce and authorities to guarantee the availability of ultra-low sulfur diesel , necessary for the new generation of engines.
“Every player in the transportation chain has a responsibility in building a more sustainable future. At Daimler Truck Mexico, we work to ensure that profitability, efficiency, and caring for the planet go hand in hand,” concluded Barreiro
With a strategy based on product, service, and financing , and the active participation of Mercedes-Benz Buses representatives , they also explained a shared vision focused on innovation, safety, and sustainability in transportation in Mexico.
