Mexican President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has named the future heads of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) and the Ministry of the Navy (Semar) , who will replace General Luis Cresencio Sandoval González and Admiral José Rafael Ojeda Durán, respectively.
Sheinbaum, who will become Mexico’s first female president on October 1, said she trusts the profiles of the two high-ranking officers who will command the country’s Armed Forces, according to a press release.
In this regard, Major General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo will be the next Secretary of National Defense. He has experience as inspector and general comptroller of the Mexican Army and Air Force, as well as general director of the National Defense College .
For his part, Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, current director general of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec , will assume the position of Secretary of the Navy .
Morales Ángeles has more than 45 years of service in the Mexican Navy. His academic background includes studies in national security, naval administration and defense strategies in both Mexican and foreign institutions.
In this regard, the president-elect highlighted the importance of both profiles , pointing out their commitment to national security and their strategic vision to face Mexico’s current and future defense challenges.
