CIMA announced the opening of its new Distribution Center (DC) in Apodaca, Nuevo León. With a surface area of 2,600 square meters (m2 ) , this new facility nearly tripled the storage capacity of its previous center, increasing from 150 to 566 tons, representing an increase of 277 percent.
The expansion will allow the company to operate 50 daily routes, improving coverage in the state’s 51 municipalities . The operation will implement innovative Just-In-Time logistics , eliminating the use of refrigerated containers and using only dry containers for transportation, thereby reducing fuel and electricity consumption by 30%.
As part of its environmental initiatives, the center will incorporate 100% electric forklifts to contribute to the corporate goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2% by 2026.
In addition, the distribution center is designed to optimize the storage and distribution of more than 5,200 tons annually , including 1,249 tons of food supplies, 1,614 tons of supplies for industrial cafeterias, 2,351 tons of cold school lunches and breakfasts, and 900,000 kilos of fresh fruits and vegetables.
The facilities have refrigeration chambers with a total capacity of 72 tons , distributed in three storage rooms of 24 tons each. This infrastructure guarantees the freshness and quality of the products, allowing food to be preserved for up to two weeks without altering the ripening process or losing its nutrients.
The new distribution center has a core staff of 26 administrative and operational employees and has the potential to generate up to 360 jobs annually during peak seasons. This new facility marks a step forward in CIMA’s logistics infrastructure in Nuevo León, adding to the previous 1,000 m² center, consolidating its presence in the region.
Since 2023, CIMA has begun an institutionalization process focused on strengthening its corporate structure and supporting its decisions through corporate governance led by its Board of Directors. As part of this process, the group appointed Carlos Olivar Pérez as CEO, who has driven operational consolidation, the implementation of best practices, talent development, and the adoption of technological systems that optimize daily management.
