The concept of electromobility adoption, which claims that large corporations and businesses will drive this adoption, was broken by Chevrolet and the Michoacan paper company, Lealgil , by incorporating the BrightDrop 400 electric vehicle .
The vehicle that Chevrolet recently delivered to the family-owned stationery distribution company is part of General Motors de México (GM de México) ‘s commitment to boost the electromobility strategies of its business customers in the country.
Lealgil delivers an average of 35 orders per day , which will improve the company’s emissions by using zero-emission vehicles.
“We are delighted to be Lealgil’s partner in its transition to 100 percent electric mobility. With the acquisition of this vehicle, they will be able to optimize their operations and strengthen their efforts to protect the environment,” said Adrián Enciso, Director of Electric Vehicles at GM Mexico.
The Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 and 600 electric vans are powered by GM’s Modular Electric Vehicle Battery Platform. They offer a range of up to 275 miles on a full charge and can recharge up to 28 miles in 10 minutes using a Level 3 charger . They also feature available front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, as well as One-Pedal Driving regenerative braking.
They are designed to facilitate and optimize the driver’s work by providing access to the cargo area from the cab and featuring sliding front doors, a rear access curtain, low-height steps, grab handles, and air conditioning.
The 400 model offers up to 11.7 m3 of cargo space, while the 600 version offers up to 17.4 m3, and they can carry from 1.1 to 1.6 tons, depending on the configuration customers choose.
“At Lealgil, we work to grow our business. The family’s foray into the stationery industry dates back two generations, and we have always been driven by passion and innovation,” said Gerardo Leal Gil, legal representative of Lealgil.
“After evaluating the available options on the market, we concluded that BrightDrop is the ideal fit for our company, thanks to the vehicle’s stable and safe handling and response on steep roads,” he added.
In addition, the BrighDrop vehicle has OnStar connectivity , so owners will have the functionality of Google Integrated® at their disposal, to access applications such as Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, audiobooks, among others, directly on the van’s infotainment system, without the need to link any mobile device, in addition to Wi-Fi internet connection for up to seven devices.
BrightDrop commercial vans feature advanced safety features, including five airbags and more than 20 active safety and driver-assist features, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, front and rear proximity sensors, forward collision warning, lane departure assist, a 360-degree camera, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, Stabilitrak® stability control, and electronic traction control.
Benefits included with the purchase of BrightDrop vans include:
- Battery warranty for 8 years or 160,000 km.
- Unlimited roadside assistance, included in the vehicle warranty.
