
The National Chamber of Passenger and Tourism Transportation (Canapat) ratified Luis Antonio Zaldívar Sánchez as president of the organization for the period 2026-2027, during the XXXVI Ordinary General Assembly , in which the integration of the new National Board of Directors was also presented.
The session was chaired by Zaldívar Sánchez, and during the assembly a summary of the activities carried out by Canapat was presented, among which the meetings held with authorities of different levels of government stood out, and the participation of the organization in international spaces related to mobility and tourism.
The work of the country’s regional delegations and the practices implemented in different states to strengthen passenger transport operations were also recognized. The meeting included a presentation of the organization’s financial report and an analysis of the regulatory environment impacting the sector.
As part of the institutional agenda for the 2026-2027 period, Canapat proposed various lines of work focused on strengthening safety in operations, boosting the competitiveness and productivity of the sector, improving the quality of service and the user experience , as well as advancing in the modernization of fleets and in the professionalization of human capital.
In the vote, carried out in accordance with the statutes of Canapat, Zaldívar Sánchez was ratified as president, who will be accompanied in the new National Board of Directors by Sergio Enrique Rodríguez Herrera , as executive vice president of the Secretariat; Aldo Alarcón Vargas , in Finance and Treasury; and Aureliano Baca Baños , as executive vice president of the Comptroller’s Office.
The assembly was attended by authorities from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) , including Luis Ruiz Hernández , head of the General Directorate of Federal Motor Transport (DGAF) , who was in charge of swearing in the new National Board of Directors for the 2026-2027 period.
With this ratification and the integration of the new National Board of Directors, Canapat reiterated its intention to maintain collaboration with authorities and affiliated companies to strengthen the development of passenger and tourism transportation in the country .
