The American Bay&Bay not only wants to stay on the border with Mexico, but has begun its expansion to the rest of the country and has used intermodal transportation more frequently , driven by the benefits of relocation ( nearshoring ).
Hugo Malagon, Mexico cross-border business development , said that the above has occurred because certain clients have asked them to reach new destinations in Mexican territory, so they are already preparing an investment to open offices and buy equipment, among other actions. .
“We have 50 years in intermodal in the United States and we work with all railroads. The company has a great vision for Mexico with nearshoring and we are going to start working with the rest of the markets such as the northeast, southeast, Bajío and we have many carriers that are going to help us,” he assured.
In an interview, he announced that within the strategy towards Mexico is that 25% of its growth by 2025 is leveraged by intermodal, “we have been betting heavily on it.”
Without mentioning more details, he commented that currently the growth they have registered in the country is important, at the beginning of their operations in Mexican territory they made five trips a month and currently there are 600, just on the border.
He explained, for example, that they recently signed a contract with an appliance company to use one container a week, however they are already planning for five per plant and there is the option of reaching up to 25 per week.
With five years in the Mexican market, today they have service through Reynosa-Pharr, Laredo, El Paso, Calexico, Mexicali and Tijuana, operations carried out through dry box, refrigerated, platforms, to name a few.
However, in the United States they have been operating for more than 80 years with two divisions, transportation and logistics, in addition, they handle products such as meat, pastries, sweets, wines and liquors. Meanwhile, for logistics it has an agreement with more than 13 thousand carriers.
