LA PAZ, BCS. – In the first half of 2023, Baja Ferries marked a milestone in the company’s history by incorporating the California Star ship , the largest of its kind for cargo and passenger movement in Latin America.
Despite this achievement, the company’s path is not to focus its business model on connecting Baja California Sur via ferry with Mazatlán and Topolobampo , both points in Sinaloa.
“We must look beyond the ferry, by strengthening the logistics approach and short-distance routes and cabotage,” Nino Liaño, general manager of Baja Ferries, said in an interview with T21.
For Liaño, Baja Ferries’ vocation to promote the development of Baja California Sur is clear. This objective is also embedded in its value proposition called integrated logistics services , which incorporates the linkage of intermodal and multimodal transport, logistics integration and special projects.
The strategy aims to assume logistical responsibility for products destined for Baja California Sur, and where Baja Ferries can be responsible for logistics operations beyond the ports of Mazatlán and Topolobampo, “our offer is designed to be responsible for the logistical coordination of the products, be it Europe or some other point in the country ,” he adds.
Today, in this offer of services outside the ship, Baja Ferries, with its transport division, GEOS, is already integrated into logistics services that are not only port-to-port services, but are also immersed in door-to-door services.
