The Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF) is preparing the tender for the acquisition of 15 passenger trains for the Mexico-Pachuca route , the construction of which began by the Ministry of National Defense (Defensa) last March.
According to the document posted on the ComprasMX portal , these units must be equipped with ERTMS , which includes commissioning, maintenance, and workshop equipment.
“The bidder must meet all the requirements established in the call for proposals, offering the best conditions in terms of technical specifications, quality, and timeliness, and must have obtained the highest score from the ARTF,” he stated.
Among them, it was specified that the units must have at least 50% national content , so the percentage will have to be indicated in their economic proposal.
The agency specified that the clarification meeting will be held on July 11, and proposals will be submitted and opened until August 6 of this year, while the winner will be announced on September 29 .
Last March, the federal government began construction on the Mexico-Pachuca train, which will be operated by Grupo Mundo Maya , formerly the Olmeca-Maya-Mexica Airport, Railway, Auxiliary and Related Services Group (GAFSACOMM) of the Ministry of National Defense.
According to the Portfolio Investment Project document , presented by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) , the Mexico-Pachuca train, in its Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA)-Pachuca section, requires 51 billion 874 million 963 thousand 647 pesos for its construction , a project that should be ready in 24 months.
The project will be 57.1 kilometers (km) long and have two tracks. At the time, and in the SHCP section (which has since been removed), it was mentioned that there would be nine passenger trains , consisting of two “A1-A2” cab-power cars with a capacity of 192; one “A3” intermediate car with 163 seats; and two “A4-A5” intermediate cars, also with 179 seats.
It was also specified that the trains will travel at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour (km/h), running on a double electrified track with catenary traction to align with the suburban train that runs from Lechería to the AIFA.
