The Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF) published draft standard 011-ARTF-2024, Specifications for soles under concrete sleepers, with the aim that passenger trains comply with said provision and safety.
He assured that it is necessary to have a regulation that defines the testing procedures and evaluation criteria for design and routine tests in manufacturing or manufacturing, so that the Under Sleeper Soles (SBD) meet the quality required by the technical parameters and guarantee security.
“Its objective is to establish the minimum specifications and general evaluation criteria to be considered in the tests that determine the quality of the SBD to be used on railway tracks for the provision of the public rail passenger transport service,” he indicated.
SBD are elastic layers fixed to the bottom surface of railway sleepers or supports, they are mainly used to protect ballast and improve track quality. They increase the contact surface between the concrete sleeper and the upper layer of ballast, reduce the formation of voids under the sleepers and reduce the settlements of the superstructure. “They are, in the background, an elastic solution that helps reduce the transmission of vibrations and structural noise,” according to the ARTF.
In this sense, said regulation regarding concrete sleepers will be implemented and the mechanisms, modes, instruments and procedures will be established by which the authority ensures that they have the powers to verify railway safety and that they comply with the required design quality. for its proper performance.
Through a document published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) , he stated that the international standards referring to the SBD have made some changes in the parameters and acceptance criteria, which is why it is necessary to carry out these changes for priority projects. that are available for the country’s railway sector.
He explained that these modifications were approved by the National Advisory Committee for Standardization of Rail Transport on March 26, and will come into force in 60 calendar days.
