In a decisive step toward technological modernization and port decarbonization, APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas has added a new, all-electric Super-Post-Panamax crane , which will be integrated into the equipment planned for Phase II of the terminal’s expansion. This state-of-the-art equipment represents a milestone in the company’s overall sustainability strategy, combining operating power with energy efficiency.

The crane, with a maximum capacity of 100 tons, guarantees operational performance equivalent to that of current equipment , but with greater benefits in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. Its incorporation will reduce vessel stay times at dock and offer greater flexibility in berthing vessels of different sizes, strengthening the competitiveness of customers and shipping companies.
This new asset is part of the expansion that will increase the terminal’s capacity to 2.2 million TEUs per year and will enter into operation in 2026. With this, APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas consolidates its position as one of the most modern and sustainable terminals in Latin America , advancing toward safe, responsible, and world-class operations.
The port of Lázaro Cárdenas has operated a total of one million 720 thousand 129 TEUs in import and export maneuvers in the accumulated January-August 2025 period, 8.4% more compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine .
