Rogelio Arzate, new executive president of the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor Producers (ANPACT) , will focus his management on taking on the challenges and boosting the opportunities of the sector in the context of nearshoring (relocation of production lines), above all, taking into account the evolution of the commercial vehicle production industry and the motor transportation sector .
In a press conference, Arzate explained that, although the challenges for the industry are several, together with sister chambers and associations, a solution will be sought in coordination with the incoming government.
Among the challenges that must be addressed is the renewal of the vehicle fleet. Arzate pointed out that it is necessary to focus on the domestic market taking into account that the average age of the fleet is 19 years , this must be attacked through financial instruments and fiscal and non-fiscal incentives.
Likewise, he clarified in response to a specific question from T21 that special attention will be paid to the reincorporation of scrapping programs that promote the acquisition of new technology vehicles that use various energy sources, ranging from diesel engines, natural gas, hybrids, electric and soon hydrogen engines, with the aim of caring for the environment and optimizing mobility through less polluting and safer units.
“One of the issues that we have observed is the asset recovery process, because it brings many benefits, for example, in interest rates. In addition, financial companies reduce the risk they have to grant credits, which benefits the fleet modernization process,” he said.
The new executive president of ANPACT indicated that another area to strengthen is the promotion of both external and internal investment. As well as the strengthening of road, energy and charging infrastructure to catapult electromobility. “Innovation and technology are challenges that we want to face together with our partners,” he said.
Likewise, Arzate’s management will focus on taking advantage of nearshoring opportunities and the arrival of new investments, with the aim of promoting competitiveness.
“This brings new energy to the sector, because the relocation of manufacturing centers coincides with the entry of a new federal government and other authorities, we will be building a productive relationship because what we seek is to work for the benefit of the industry and society,” he assured. .
Arzate communicated that all of the above will be achieved only by working together with the government to obtain a correct regulatory environment that is favorable for the sector. Likewise, he reinforced that the T-MEC is a crucial issue for the sector , in this sense the task will be to promote foreign trade and customs operations.
The association stressed that good news for the industry is that the elected government will focus on environmental issues , which is positive to advance the adoption of vehicle technologies that improve the environment.
