The Ministry of the Navy (Semar) appointed Admiral Juan José Padilla Olmos as director general of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), effective March 16 of this year.
Padilla Olmos replaces Rear Admiral José Ramón Rivera Parga as head of the airport, who has been in charge since March 2024 and will continue to be part of his team.
He explained that this change was carried out as part of the merger process between AICM, Mexico City Airport Services (SACM) and Mexico City Airport Group (GACM) .
“Under the leadership of Admiral Padilla Olmos, who will serve as general director of the three entities and will only receive one monetary compensation for the three assigned positions, the goal is to eliminate duplications in the corporate structure of these airport entities to optimize operations and resources, improve company profitability, and enhance safety and the country’s air connectivity for the benefit of users,” according to Semar.
Once the merger is completed, AICM will serve as the concessionaire and operator of Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport, and will subsequently hold the rights to the international airports of Ciudad del Carmen, Ciudad Obregón, Guaymas, Loreto, Matamoros, and the national airport of Colima.
It will also hold equity interests in the Toluca and Cuernavaca international airports. It will also manage and collaborate with the San Felipe International Airport and the Lázaro Cárdenas National Airport, respectively. Along the same lines, it will gradually incorporate other airports across the country.
