
Between 2022 and 2025, 6,844 vehicles stolen on the highways were recovered , including tractor-trailers, trailers, private vehicles and others, reported the National Association of Vehicle Tracking and Protection Companies (ANERPV) .
Luis Villatoro, president of the organization, detailed that the value of the recovered vehicles reaches four billion 265 million pesos (mdp), not including the value of the cargo .
In presenting a summary of the work carried out by the 77 companies affiliated with ANERPV at the close of 2025, he explained that in addition to the recovery of vehicles, the legal actions undertaken in collaboration with the authorities of the three levels of government allowed the arrest of 713 people involved in illicit activities and the securing of 286 properties used for unloading stolen goods and units.
He explained that statistics from the private group show that in December of last year, 22% of vehicle thefts were concentrated in the State of Mexico , 10% in Jalisco, another 10% in Puebla, 7% in Guanajuato, and 6% in Sinaloa, making them the states with the highest incidence. The remaining 45% were distributed among the other states in the country, and it was observed that truck theft is shifting toward urban areas.
Regarding the times of highest activity for robberies, Villatoro revealed that in the last month of 2025, 27% of the robberies occurred between 7:00 p.m. and midnight , 26% between midnight and 7:00 a.m., another 26% in the afternoon between noon and 7:00 p.m., and in the mornings, from 7:00 a.m. to noon, the number of robberies decreased slightly to 21%.
Of the entities with the highest number of cases nationwide, in the State of Mexico the municipalities that registered the most robberies in December were Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ecatepec de Morelos, Tecámac, Tepotzotlán, Toluca and Naucalpan .
In Jalisco, the most affected areas were Guadalajara , San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Zapopan, and Tonalá. In Puebla, robberies were concentrated in San Martín Texmelucan, the city of Puebla, Esperanza, Tepeaca, and Tecamachalco.
In Guanajuato, during December, the highest number of vehicle thefts were reported in Celaya, Apaseo el Grande , Irapuato, and San Luis de la Paz. Meanwhile, in Sinaloa, the highest incidence of thefts was concentrated in Mazatlán, Culiacán, and Escuinapa.
ANERPV, through its 77 affiliated companies, provides coverage of over two and a half million vehicle monitoring and protection devices distributed throughout the country. Furthermore, the recovery of vehicles was achieved following weekly working meetings and close collaboration with federal and state authorities.
