Awesome Cargo has added another aircraft to its fleet, increasing its service frequency to China and also planning expansion to other countries, which could materialize before the end of 2025.
Luis Ramos, CEO and founder of the Mexican freighter, stated that this aircraft is its first P2F A330-200F with a 60-ton capacity, although another will arrive in the following days.
“There will be more flights to China, with the possibility of flights to South America. We already fly there and are increasing capacity,” he said in an interview with T21.
Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) , an Airbus subsidiary , carried out the A330 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion for Air Lease , a global aircraft leasing company with more than 800 owned, managed and ordered aircraft in its fleet.
It is the first A330P2F aircraft to be registered in Mexico after EFW received the validated STC (V-STC) for its A330-200P2F and A330-300P2F solutions from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) in November 2024.
The aircraft is equipped with a crew rest compartment and center fuel tanks, enabling medium- and long-haul trips supporting routes connecting Mexico and China . The conversion freighter also utilizes a powered loading system, suitable for extra-large or heavy cargo on 16- or 20-foot pallets.
Awesome Cargo had previously operated cargo planes that were temporarily converted from passenger aircraft to carry cargo in the main cabin.
Luis Ramos also commented that they are analyzing more destinations in the United States, such as Miami, Chicago, and Dallas . “For us, the American market is the most important, and we have to see how to make connectivity between our countries work, and we have to abide by government guidelines, hoping not to lose competitiveness as a national company, always prioritizing trade.”
According to AFAC data, Awesome Cargo moved 2,530.54 tons during the first half of the year. The company began operations in 2023.
