United Airlines announced a new route connecting Houston with Tepic-Riviera Nayarit , which will begin operating on December 20th. This will not only increase connectivity but also boost tourist traffic to the Mexican airport.
Alejandro Muñoz de Cote Ortiz, commercial director of Aeropuertos Mexicanos , the concessionaire of the Tepic-Nayarit International Airport, emphasized that to attract investment to a destination, it is essential that it be multi-destination and that the airport have constant activity.
He explained that this is the third international flight announced in recent weeks, reflecting the airport’s growth and dynamism.
“We received this airport, it had 100,000 passengers a year, it had a flight that departed to Mexico City sometimes yes and sometimes no, it had a flight to Tijuana, that one continues, but today, in 2025, we will close with a little less than 400,000 passengers, we will quadruple what they gave us,” he emphasized.
A statement detailed that the flight will operate weekly on Saturdays , with a capacity of up to 76 passengers.
Rocío Esther González García, Secretary General of the Government, emphasized that this new route represents another achievement for Nayarit and an important step toward consolidating its position as a world-class destination.
“The flight represents much more than an air connection; it symbolizes an open door to tourism, investment, and the strengthening of international ties that drive local and national economies, not only in Nayarit, but also in those with whom we border and, importantly, in conurbations with other states and other countries,” he explained.
For his part, Carlos Novelo, Senior Manager of Corporate Sales at United Airlines Mexico, expressed his satisfaction with contributing, through this service, to the development and growth that this region is experiencing.
With new routes to Calgary and Vancouver, Canada, and Houston , Nayarit seeks to position itself as a strategic international destination, boosting tourism, investment, and the state’s economic development.
