Grupo Bachoco announced that it will incorporate its first fleet of 100% electric vehicles as part of its technological strategy focused on reducing its carbon footprint.
The units, in this initial stage, are destined for the sales chain that covers key metropolitan areas in Mexico , with projected savings of 26,000 liters of fuel , equivalent to 67.3 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.
In a statement, the company noted that this transition allows it to anticipate future environmental regulations and align with the increasingly demanding sustainability standards of consumers and business partners.
“With the addition of this fleet, Grupo Bachoco reinforces its commitment to innovation and sustainable energy to contribute to the use of clean and affordable energy, which is key to the development of industry, businesses, communications, and transportation,” he emphasized.
The firm noted that according to a 2023 study by the consulting firm Nielsen , 73% of consumers globally are willing to change their purchasing habits to reduce their environmental impact, and 81% consider it essential for companies to adopt sustainable practices.
As part of its 2024 sustainability report, Bachoco carried out various actions such as improving packaging design to reduce environmental impact , promoting reuse and recycling in its value chain, creating more efficient and responsible production, and has trained personnel to apply protocols that guarantee animal welfare, among others.
Additionally, it works closely with its strategic partners to implement best practices at every stage of the value chain to ensure its products meet the highest quality standards.
“The Bachoco Sustainability Committee’s main mission is to promote and implement responsible practices that integrate environmental, social, and governance criteria into all our operations, in addition to fostering a culture of sustainability both within and outside the company,” he emphasized.
Likewise, the installation of solar panels began at 300 operating centers across 19 Mexican states . “This project represents one of the most significant renewable energy initiatives in Latin America, contributing to the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.”
In this regard, he indicated that the integration of the new electric fleet will contribute to reducing energy consumption , one of the main causes of climate change worldwide.
