Sustainability is a concept that Cummins demonstrates not only through its products and the impact they have on trucking, but also from its manufacturing centers in Mexico .
At its manufacturing centers in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and Guadalajara, Jalisco, operated jointly with its partner Sisamex , Cummins produces key components such as axles, driveshafts, drum brakes, and suspensions that serve both customers in Mexico and the export market.
Among the sustainability-oriented measures implemented at the manufacturing centers is the 100% efficient use of the water concession, through aquifer re-infiltration processes. In addition, the water treatment plant reduces municipal water use.
Other elements include the fact that 80% of industrial fluids are reused , 85% of lighting is LED, 3% of energy is generated by solar panels, while 10% of forklifts used in manufacturing centers have migrated to electric versions.
One factor highlighted in a statement by Cummins is that 100% of steel scrap is recycled, 94% of discarded materials are recycled, and 50% of annual CAPEX ( capital expenditures ) is allocated to the renewal of more efficient machinery that contributes to these efforts.

Cummins has developed several powertrain components that are also aligned to extend component maintenance, thereby contributing to sustainability.
“At Cummins, we understand that road safety and the performance of every component are directly linked to the well-being of people and the environment. That’s why we promote solutions like the Q Plus brake and MTA30 suspension, which combine technology, reliability, and environmental commitment,” emphasized Federico García, OEM Powertrain Sales Leader for Cummins in Mexico and Latin America.
The Q Plus brake system offers high durability and low maintenance through its self-adjusting system. Meanwhile, the Meritor MTA30 suspension is a seamless, one-piece suspension designed for fleets requiring stability, structural strength, and extended tire life. Both products offer spare parts and support available in North America.
