Hutchison Ports LCT reported that it successfully served the M/V Marco Polo of the CMA CGM line , thereby reaffirming the capacity of the terminal in the port of Lázaro Cárdenas to handle large vessels and respond to the growing demands of international trade.
On December 27, the M/V Marco Polo, with a length of 396 meters and a width of 54 meters, performed maneuvers at the terminal that resulted in the handling of 14,611 20-foot containers (TEU) . Of these operations, 3,629 corresponded to unloading and 4,103 to loading, which included 36 special cargo units. The operating time was 66.22 hours.
This move is part of CMA CGM’s M2X service , designed to strengthen trade connections between Asia and Mexico. As part of a new strategy for the line, the number of arrivals has been reduced to consolidate the weekly operation of this service into a single port call, which allows for optimizing resources and maximizing logistical efficiency.
According to Hutchison Ports LCT, this service represents an important step towards increasing the competitiveness of trade routes in the Pacific region. The terminal highlighted that its operational capacity is due to recent investments in infrastructure and technology , which have allowed it to handle more than 1.5 million TEUs in one year.
Alfredo Huesca, general manager of Hutchison Ports LCT, said that this achievement is the result of a strategy focused on modernization and working together with clients.
“The operation of the M/V Marco Polo is a demonstration of our ability to offer efficient and quality solutions, strengthening international trade,” he said. He also acknowledged CMA CGM for the implementation of the M2X service and the trust placed in the terminal.
