Two months after the second anniversary of the first landing of a DHL Express Mexico cargo plane at Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) , Antonio Arranz, its CEO, shared at a conference that its operation at this location has reached a stable situation in terms of cargo volume.
DHL currently operates two aircraft at AIFA, both operating at full capacity , which represents a “great achievement” for the company.
In addition, Arranz highlighted that DHL has a dual operation in Mexico, while AIFA mainly handles dedicated cargo ships, Mexico City International Airport (AICM) receives everything coming from Europe.
“AIFA is doing very well, to be honest. We are very happy because without AIFA we would not have been able to handle the volumes we are handling,” said Arranz.
In fact, for the high season, the manager explained that the arrival of a third plane is expected every two days, reflecting a significant increase in demand.
In this regard, after two years of operation, he explained that there is no investment in this location on the map, since the initial investment of 50 million dollars that DHL made in AIFA is designed for a projection of 20 years.
“At AIFA we could receive up to six aircraft in 24 hours, so there is more than enough capacity to continue growing,” said Arranz.
Another advantage of AIFA, according to Arranz, is its proximity to DHL’s most important hub in the region, JJC, which is located 20 minutes from the airport in the State of Mexico.
