Air cargo in Mexico continues to grow, as from January to October of this year it registered an increase of 6.8% compared to the same period in 2023, with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) once again leading the top 10 of the main terminals in the handling of merchandise.
According to the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) , since December of last year, this sector has shown increases every month.
In the first 10 months of the year, the airports with the greatest growth were Tijuana, Guadalajara, Toluca and Monterrey. Contrary to this panorama, Mexico City International Airport (AICM) suffered a 51.5 percent drop.
The international market was the one that grew the most in the mentioned period, since it increased by 8.7% , since it closed with 727 thousand 19.9 tons, of the 668 thousand 750.7 tons in 2023.
In this segment, AIFA had an increase of 224.7%, followed by Monterrey with 13.5% and Guadalajara with 4.8 percent.
The AFAC stated that the domestic market increased by 2.8%, due to the movement of 325,922.1 tons, 8,834 tons more than in the previous year.
He also said that in October the increase was 4.6% year-on-year, going from 107,132.2 tons to 112,101.8 tons.
