Heavy-duty technological devices, such as tablets and laptops, allow for more efficient operations and reduced times in sectors such as retail , logistics and transportation, and their adoption also minimizes operating costs, said Carlos Sandoval Reyes, general director of Minno Latam .
According to the executive, the use of these types of tools in logistics can help to have better control of inventory , and in last-mile deliveries to track packages in real time, because they speed up the flow of information.
In the retail industry , its use has had a positive impact , especially because many companies are avoiding using fixed points of sale, in addition to space issues, in the sense of displaying more products, as well as time, since long lines in the establishments are avoided.
Regarding its use in transport, he pointed out that rugged mobile devices make the process much more dynamic for the operator , since a tablet can be used to access diverse information in order to have an optimal route and improve delivery time.
These tools, also known as rugged , are designed for work due to their physical characteristics and can be used at high and low temperatures, since they are made of robust materials to resist dust, water and even impacts.
“In terms of temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius (°C), temperatures of minus 20°C, or a continuous work situation where you cannot let the device fall or become paralyzed,” he explained.
These devices, which include handhelds , tablets , laptops and others, can have a useful life of up to five years , and also contribute to generating less technological waste by lasting longer than conventional ones.
Some sectors where they are used are the restaurant, entertainment, agricultural, mining and metallurgical sectors; in addition, in the logistics, transportation and retail industries , said Carlos Sandoval.
According to the Business Research Insightsportal , the demand for these technological products is growing, because industries such as manufacturing, logistics and construction require devices that withstand challenging conditions, in addition to offering greater productivity, reducing downtime and providing better data accuracy.
The global market for such devices is expected to reach $10 billion by 2032.
