Grupo México Transportes (GMXT) announced that by 2025 it will invest 410.3 million dollars for various expansion, security and efficiency projects that will allow it to grow and improve its service, as well as optimize productivity performance.
According to its financial report for the third quarter of the year, these resources will be used to build new projects in its network , yards and terminals, increase railway equipment and acquire cutting-edge technology.
In this regard, and based on the estimated volume growth for 2025, the investments to be made include a 15% increase in the fleet of road locomotives , 1,600 rail cars, additional capacity in yards and terminals, as well as an important road safety plan that will improve coexistence in the localities in which it operates.
“GMXT remains focused on generating a greater capture of market share vs. trucking, as well as a continuous improvement in service for the benefit of our customers,” he said.
The railway company indicated that the volume transported during the third quarter grew 3% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 498,176 cars transported.
He said that growth was led by the intermodal segment , with a 30% increase in cars transported, followed by the chemicals segment, which grew 5 percent.
Regarding its revenues in the period, these increased 8.7% compared to the same period in 2023 , totaling 15 thousand 126 million, the result of an increase of 2.8% in volume and 5.9% in net price due to the devaluation of the exchange rate of the peso against the dollar.
While EBITDA reached 6,259 million pesos , showing a growth of 2.2% year-over-year, the margin, however, reports a decrease of 260 basis points due to a 14.4% increase in costs compared to the same period last year.
For the final quarter, GMXT said it will focus on continuing to recover productivity levels and improving the efficiency of its business processes, to improve the competitiveness of its service “to levels higher than those we had before the migrant crisis.”
