The use of electronic identification badges in customs in Mexico will still have to wait.
The National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) reported through a bulletin that the validity of cardboard badges will be extended until September 30 of this year.
These badges are used by the personnel of the companies installed in the audited areas that frequently enter and exit customs.
However, it has emerged that a large number of these personnel have not yet received their electronic badge, since the authority itself does not have the capacity to respond to the request for this procedure.
The ANAM had planned for the use of the electronic badge to come into force on July 1.
“Likewise, it was reported that for the foreign trade figures corresponding to Customs Representatives, Legal Representatives, General Warehouse Representative and Warehouse Representative for the Terminal Automotive Industry or Manufacturing of Motor Transport Vehicles, the issuance of cardboard badges is authorized. for its operations,” according to the ANAM bulletin.
In addition, it authorized the issuance of cardboard badges for the figures “Dependent of Customs Representative” (Common) or “Assistant of Legal Representative” , for their operations, the validity of which will be the same as stated above.
Mexico has 50 customs offices throughout the national territory , divided into 21 border, 16 maritime and 13 interior.
ANAM itself recently reported that in the period of January-May 2024, nine,281,744 foreign trade operations were carried out in Mexico.
